The two new BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M come in two new colors, Long Beach Blue Metallic and Donington Grey Metallic. The blue was chosen as the launch color for the X6 M while the beautiful grey shade was assigned to the X5 M.
Now for the first time, we have a chance to see the BMW X6 M in Donington Grey paint. Courtesy of spy photographer Palbay, we’re giving a set of photos shot near the BMW plant in Spartanburg. The X6 M spotted here also comes with black wheels which add a nice contrast to the grey metallic.
The two M utes made their debut last week at the 2014 LA Auto Show and will go on sale next year.
BMW says that over 10,000 kilometers were clocked around the Nurburgring with the two cars delivering performance equal or better with the E92 M3.
BMW X6 M project manager, Herbert Bayerl, said the 2,275 kg high-performance SUV can match the significantly lighter E92 M3 and its 1,700 kilos.
The two all-wheel drive Ms benefit from an updated V8 TwinTurbo engine delivering more horsepower and torque, as well as from a tuned up chassis, better and bigger brakes, and Michelin tires to match the performance of the car.
BMW’s 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, is giving the X5 and X6 567 hp from 6,000 to 6,500 rpm and 553 lb-ft of torque from 2,200 to 5,000 rpm. Those broad, flat torque plateaus helps the two M runs the 0–60 time of 4 seconds flat.
