At the 2010 Paris Motor Show, BMWBLOG sat down for a chat with Nader Faghihzadeh, Exterior Designer for 6 Series Coupe, Convertible and the four-door Gran Coupe.
A tradition in the past years, along with the official photos, BMW also releases a batch of the design sketches drawn by the artist, an insight into where the design process began and where it ended when all the puzzle pieces fit together.
As explained by Faghihzadeh, the early sketches are always more aggressive, adventurous, a vision of the artist. The sketches serve as a starting point in the internal design competition where after several rounds, a winner is chosen.
The car moves then into the clay modelling stage where a full-size model is being built. Interaction with engineers and other departments begin early in the design phase, and the sketches turn into computer generated images and eventually, the final product.
So, let’s have a look at how Nader Faghihzadeh envisioned the car early in the design proces.
