Back in July 2011, at the BMW M Festival, BMW introduced the all-new, exclusive and limited M3 CRT.
The M3 CRT, short for Carbon Racing Technlogy, will be produced as a limited edition and only 67 units were being manufactured.
Following the steps of the M3 GTS, the CRT comes with a premium price and a wide range of performance upgrades. It is priced in Germany at 130,000 euro and not available for US market. BMW M3 Carbon Fiber Technology debuts new production process for CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastic) components that are used in the upcoming i3 and i8.
M3 CRT uses the same engine as the M3 GTS Coupe, 450 horsepower at 8,300 RPM and 324 lb-ft torque at 3,750 RPM. Top speed is limited to 180 mph and the carbon-fiber dressed M3 runs to 62 mph in just 4.4 seconds.
To test the abilities and performance of the M3 CRT, German magazine Sports Auto takes the ultra-sporty M3 sedan to Hockenheim. While the “regular” E90 M3 Sedan runs through a lap of Hockenheim in 1:14.6 minutes, the M3 CRT runs the same distance, with identical tires, in 1:13.6 minutes.
The magazine also highly rates the M3 CRT when it comes to driving dynamics and the amazing sound coming from the equally impressive high-revving V8 engine.
