BMWUSA gives us a quick on-track race between the BMW M3 and the X5M. Filmed at the Laguna Race track in Monterey, the first M-SAV shows its exceptional performance on the track, thanks to its TwinTurbo V8 Engine and a Torque Vectoring Rear Differential.
At 5,368 pounds, the BMW X5 M presented a challenge to both the engineers and the marketing department, but to its 4.4 liter V8 turbocharged engine, the X5M delivers impressive performance. The S63 engine delivers 555 horsepower at 6,000 RPM and 501 lb-ft of torque at 1,500 RPM.
The unusual competitor, BMW M3, is powered by the S65B40 naturally aspirated, high-revving 4-liter V8 that is based on the 5-litre S85B50 V10 that powered the E60/E61 M5 and the E63/E64 M6. It delivers 414 horsepower at 8300 rpm, with peak torque of 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) at 3900 rpm.
Let’s have a look at the short 30-seconds clip, while we are working on getting more extended footage.
