The M brand was represented at the 2012 Paris Motor Show by the F10 BMW M5 and M6 Coupe. The premium super sporty sedan was displayed in the Frozen Gray color, while the M6 Coupe retained its new marketing color: Sakhir Orange.
With the new M3 scheduled only for Frankfurt next year, the M division kept a low profile at the French show, but the two Ms still drew a large crowd around them.
In the U.S. customers, the 2013 BMW M5 and M6 arrived already at dealerships and are priced at $90,695, respectively $106,995.
Both cars are powered by the high-revving 4.4-litre V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, consisting of Twin Scroll Twin Turbo technology, cross-bank exhaust manifold, High Precision Direct Petrol Injection and VALVETRONIC fully variable valve control. The cars deliver 560 hp at 6,000 – 7,000 rpm and maximum torque of 680 Newton meters (502 lb-ft) from 1,500 rpm.
Dimensions wise, the M5 Sedan is slightly larger than the sportier M6 Coupe, 4,910 mm vs 4,898 mm. To give the passengers more interior space, the M5 is 13mm wider than the M6 (2119 mm vs 2106 mm).
As expected, the F10 M5 also weighs slightly more than the M6 Coupe, 4,286 lbs vs 4,243 lbs.
