Okay, not a fair comparison, we know, but it’s still fun to see two of the greatest M cars built in the last decade. The 1M needs almost no introduction, the super sporty and compact 1M Coupe was built in a limited run and became the darling of all journalists and fans around the world.
The 1M is powered by the N54 twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter I-6 engine. For the 1M, the turbocharger, exhaust system, and ECU have been revised to produce 335 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque, though up to 369 pound-feet are available temporarily in overboost mode. Redline is found at 7000 rpm.
Under the hood, the M6 Coupe packs the S63Tü high-revving V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbotechnology that produces 412 kW/560 hp and 680 Newton metres (502 lb-ft) on tap between 1,500 and 5,750 rpm, while maximum output is developed between 6,000 and 7,000 rpm. The engine revs to a maximum of 7,200 rpm. 0-60mph is achieved in 4.1 seconds with a top speed limited to 155mph. The engine is matted to a 7-speed M Double Clutch Transmission with Drivelogic.
A fair fight? Not at all, but a great video to hear the sound of those engines.
