Back in 2011, we took ownership of a Valencia Orange BMW 1M. The 1M saga began with an amazing European Delivery Trip that sealed our love not only for the M products, but also for the unique experience offered by the BMW European Delivery Program.
We tend to like our cars in pure, standard format, but over time, the mod and tuning seeds have been planted, and the idea of a cool 1M project grew within us. First step was the addition of a BMW M Performance Rear Spoiler, along with a Blacked Out Treatment. Here is what we reported back in 2012:
The biggest change for me since last year is the adoption of BMW Performance Parts. It all started with the black kidney grille and side gills, and last month, I took it up a notch by replacing the standard trunk lip with a new spoiler from the BMW catalog. The folks over at IND not only installed the spoiler, but also gave it a nice orange touch. The trunk spoiler is probably the most cost effective performance part that quickly enhances the aggressiveness and looks of the 1M, and I personally highly recommend it. Since I caught the “performance parts bug”, more upgrades are expected over the next few months, one of them being a performance exhaust system.
Next on the agenda, as promised, was the performance exhaust system. We worked closely with Chicago-based iND and renowned exhaust manufacturer Eisenmann to choose the right option for our 1M. Fast forward a few months later and the popular and high-seller Eisenmann Race Exhaust System has replaced the stock exhaust. More on this later, along with a full photo gallery.
But we didn’t stop here. The same folks at iND suggested we should take advantage of the great 1M tune from ESS Tuning. The ESS E-FlashFlash N54 “is/1M” ECU offers normal whp range on DynoJet of 345-365whp, which translated in our case to around 400 horsepower.
The already fast and fun “Baby-M” is now a little beast that takes the Ultimate Driving Machine slogan to a new level.
