In one of those weird comparisons you sometimes see online, the folks over at Auto Express are pitting the legendary BMW E30 M3 against the new BMW 320d.
So what has triggered the comparison? Auto Express says “the BMW E30 M3 is a hero car. In its day, it was considered seriously quick. But has its performance stood the test of time or will it be humbled by today’s far more mundane 320d?”
Based on the 1986 model year E30 3 Series, the first M3 was introduced with a 2.3 L I4 S14B23 engine producing 192 horsepower.
The new F30 BMW 320d is powered by a 2.0 liter turbocharged engine that delivers 181 horsepower.
Let’s have a look.
