Two debuts in one package – BMW introduce the M235i, an enthusiast oriented subcompact two door, while at the same time introducing the world to the all new 2 Series line which replaces the 1 Series Coupe.

With the most powerful gasoline M Performance engine available producing 322 hp and 332 lf-ft of torque in, the M235i is capable of 0-60 in 4.8 seconds when optioned with the 8-speed sport automatic. The M235i represents the very first M Performance Automobile BMW offered in the US.

The BMW M team has massaged the chassis with M Adaptive suspension added M Sport braking system as well as an M235i specific exhaust. BMW chose to shod the M235i with Michelin Pilot Super Sport further demonstrating BMW’s commitment to performance as all other non-M cars come with run-flats in the United States. All this power and grip is routed through an electronically controlled rear differential. A M Performance mechanical limited slip is available through the BMW Accessories catalog. Ugh. Cabin tech includes BMW’s iDrive with a touch controller and a 8.8” sized screen. BMW Apps integrates internet based services through BMW ConnectedDrive. Real Time traffic BMW Assist with collision notification is standard for 10 years. Park Distance Control with rear view camera as well as Parking Assistant are available, the latter two were not available on the 1 Series Coupe.

The 2 Series succeeds 1 Series E82 coupe and the M235i replaces the 135is. MSRP is $44,025. 0-60 is 4.8 with the 8 speed auto. Top speed is 155mph and MPG is 22 city/32 hwy for the auto and 19/29 for the 6-speed manual. The M235i goes on sale March 2013 and has a real cup holder.
