Later this year, BMW will unveil the second-generation X5 M. Ahead of its launch, the M-powered SUV goes through the typical testing runs at the famous Nurburgring race track.
Just like the previous generation, the F85 X5 M will target the Mercedes ML63 AMG and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S.
Despite the camouflage, the F85 BMW X5 M prototype shows its large air intakes at the front and the four tailpipes at the rear. The M-specific Air Breathers behind the front wheels are still being hidden from the public eye. As previous spy shots of the X5 M have shown, sharper and more aggressive styling will describe the F85 X5 M.
The second generation of the high-powered X5 M will most likely driven by an adapted version of the S63Tü V8 twin-turbo engine from the BMW M5 F10. In addition to the standard 560 hp engine, BMW is likely offer a Competition Package which delivers 575 horsepower.
In addition to increased performance, the vehicles should offer better gas mileage thanks to weight savings brought about by the new chassis.
The next-generation of the BMW X5 M and X6 M performance SUVs should make their debut at the end of 2014.
