BMW of North America announces today the launch of the BMW i3 Electronaut Edition (ZEE) equipped vehicles, ahead of the release of other i3 vehicles.
The Limited Edition “Electronaut Edition” i3 was announced back in December, 2013 and it will be available for the ActiveE electronauts.
See below for all the equipment and options offered with this special edition.
The Electronaut Edition contains the following factory and VDC installed equipment.
Options ZEE
494 – Heated Front Seats
- Heated front seats not only offer comfort and convenience, but also protect driving range, through auxiliary battery conditioning
4U7 – DC Fast Charging (SAE)
- Industry standard DC Fast Charging systems allow the i3 to be charged up to 80% in approximately 30 minutes and helps “futureproof” the i3 charging system

- Exclusive interior and exterior badging
- BMW i accessory floormats *1
- Custom license plate frames in BMW i blue *2
- Custom embroidered board bag
1 Standard floor mats are also included and can be found in the cargo area.
2 License plate frames will not be VDC installed and will be included in the Welcome Kit.
Smart Charging App
To acknowledge the pioneering spirit of the Electronauts, known for being at the forefront of e- mobility as part of the BMW ActiveE Field Trial (and MINI E Field Trial for some) and among the first to embrace the electric vehicle (EV) lifestyle, we are proud to announce the BMW i Smart Charging application. It will be available exclusively to Electronauts throughout 2014, and will be available for both iOS and Android. This app helps the customer enjoy reduced charging costs by automatically calculating the daily cost-optimized charging periods for the i3. This app integrates directly into the BMW i Remote App. Details on how your customer can download this exclusive app, as well as relevant features and functionality, will be announced shortly in a forthcoming bulletin.
Pricing
To capture the entire value the edition will be itemized on the Monroney label as ZEE factory installed options at $1,050 and Z8B port installed accessories at $700. The total MSRP of the Electronaut Edition package is $1,750 and is free of charge to the Electronaut. This deal works as a typical Option Credit for dealerships.
The Electronaut Edition Option Credit can be used in conjunction with vehicles that utilize Lease, OwnersChoice, OwnersChoice with Flex, or Retail financing through BMW FS, and for cash purchases as well.
