At the International Media Launch of the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe, BMWBLOG sat down with Paloma Schmidt-Bräkling, Product Manager BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe.

Schmidt-Bräkling touched on subjects like the design of the four-door coupe, the philosophy behind the car and the ideal customer.

From launch time, the four-door coupe will be offered with a similar color pallet and options list as the 4 Series Coupe, including three pre-defined packages: Luxury, Modern (not offered in U.S.), Sport and M-Sport. In addition to many familiar colors, such as Glacier Silver, Alpine White or Black Sapphire, there is also a new color brown Jatoba.

nly in conjunction with the M Sport Package, the Estoril Blue and Carbon Black are made available to customers. The Alpine White, Black Sapphire Metallic, Glacier Silver and Mineral Grey are other to choose from. Only for models without the M Sport package, Black, Kalahari Beige, Midnight Blue, Sparkling Brown, Melbourne Red, Imperial Blue, Mineral White and Jatoba are up for election.

With the help of BMW Individual program – available from launch time – the following colors can be ordered for an extra charge: Citrine, Pyrite Brown, Tanzanite, Brilliant White, Moonstone and Frozen Cashmere Silver. The latter color is the only matte finish available from the factory.

The 2015 BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe arrives in the US in early summer of 2014 with two engine choices: 428i Gran Coupe and 435i Gran Coupe. Globally, at market launch, BMW will offer the 420i, 420d, 428i and 435i models.

BMW will offer the 4 Series Gran Coupe only with the 8-speed automatic transmission in the U.S.
