The innovation team of BMW and Startnext, Germany’s largest Crowdfunding-Community, are teaming up for an open innovation campaign this summer. The Mobility Experience Challenge is a contest that welcomes participants from across the world.
The challenge is open to app developers, mobility experts, innovators or purely fans of BMW. Participants can submit and present their app innovations in the categories ‘car’, ‘travel’ and ‘search & scout’ within the submission phase. During the public voting phase, fans have the chance to decide over their favorite ideas in a 2-month voting process.
The top 10 crowd favorites will be presented to the official BMW App Jury. This jury is the final committee to determine which 3 app ideas will win the contest and might be chosen to be developed together with the app developers at BMW. The winning 3 contestants will also receive prize money of 2,500 US$ in total, as well as the chance to visit the BMW innovation teams in Munich (Germany) or Mountain View, CA (USA). The top 10 finalists will receive a certificate which acknowledges their success in the Mobility Experience Challenge.
The goal of the campaign is to involve the public crowd to invent and conceptualize app ideas, as well as receiving feedback from the community on all submitted proposals.
“We want cars to be recognized as an integral part of a person’s lifestyle. We want to share this passion with everyone and open up for ideas. Our goal is to do the impossible by breaking down traditional barriers between companies and the public. Let’s open doors together!” says the initiator of this challenge, Bastian Bansemir.
