Our sister-magazine BMWBLOG.ro gives us one of the most unique photoshoots we have seen in a while. While test driving the new BMW M235i, the folks over at BMWBLOG.ro decided to bring along the iconic BMW 2002tii.
The “2002” model was effectively the sports sedan that put BMW on the map amongst a global automotive audience. The 2002 Turbo was launched at the 1973 Frankfurt Motor Show. BMW’s, and Europe’s, first turbocharged production car, the 2002 Turbo produced 170 hp (127 kW) at 5,800 rpm,[15] with 240 N·m (180 lb·ft) of torque.
The 2002 Turbo used the 2002 tii engine with a KKK turbocharger and a compression ratio of 6.9:1 in order to prevent engine knocking. The 2002 Turbo was introduced just before the 1973 oil crisis, and 1,672 Turbos were built.
BMW M235i Coupe launched earlier this year and we had a chance to sample it at Las Vegas Speedway. Until the M2 arrives in 2016, the M235i is the best BMW money can buy, other than a full-M car. The BMW M235i Coupe is the latest member of the BMW M Performance Automobile familyand it is powered by the N55 3.0 liter TwinPower turbocharged inline-six engine also found in the M135i. It produces 322 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque taking the M235i from 0-60 in 4.8 seconds when optioned with the 8-speed sport automatic. Top speed is 155mph and MPG is 22 city/32 hwy for the auto and 19/29 for the 6-speed manual.
