Yet to be confirmed, but a report posted on InAutoNews says the BMW M4 Iconic Lights Concept unveiled earlier this month at CES in Vegas won’t be displayed at the upcoming 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
“The lights may make an appearance but they require a large theater style display to promote and this may be too much for Geneva Motor Show space,” as a company representative told inautonews.com.
The new M4 concept is used to showcase the latest development in light technology. The BMW M4 Concept Iconic Lights features new interpretation of the twin round headlights featuring the laser lights technology.
In the rear, the M4 Concept Iconic Lights sports new OLED headlights which produce light from wafer-thin semiconducting layers of organic material.
On the BMW M4 Concept Iconic Lights model, BMW Organic Light is used in the tail lights and rear direction indicators. By activating the OLED segments individually, it is possible to create different rear lighting effects in different driving modes.
Whereas normally the L-shape is wide and uniformly illuminated, in Sport mode a different-shaped light pattern can be used by activating only some of the OLED segments. The rear light then appears as a narrow, focused and sharply defined “strip” of light. Its M-style OLED rear light cluster marks a new evolution of the typical BMW L-shaped lighting design.
BMW is likely to use the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show as the venue to display the innovative concept. We’ll update the article when he hear back from BMW.
