The Black Sapphire exterior finish may be one of the most striking colors available for the BMW M3, regardless of its generation. Both the BMW E92 M3 and the BMW F80 M3 look quite stunning in black and give the car that classy, understated, yet sporty look.
It’s not often you see the E92 M3 and F80 M3 together, so the folks over at European Auto Source took the opportunity to photoshoot them side-by-side. These two vehicles were at the tuning company for some minor service and modding work, such as installing a lowering kit.
Unlike the previous generation, the new BMW F80 M3 is powered by a BMW TwinPower Turbo engine. While some purists haven’t welcomed the introduction of a forced induction powerplant to this model, the speed, agility and throttle response result in a much improved overall performance for the new model, negating these potential issues with previous and current BMW M3 owners as well.
The BMW F82 M4 comes with a 3.0 liter BMW TwinPower Turbo engine delivering 420 horsepower. This power allows the vehicle to sprint from 0-62mph (0-100km/h) in 4.1 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 155mph (250km/h).
The last generation BMW M3 is powered by a naturally aspirated V8. It’s the only M3 with a V8 and it revs to an insane 8,300 rpm. Its S65 V8 was named International Engine Of The Year from 2008-2012 in the 3.0 – 4.0 L category. Performance wise, the E92 M3’s got it too. Some magazine tests show 0 to 60 times of 3.9 seconds for the DCT-equipped models.
