It has been exactly four year since I picked up my BMW 1M in Munich. The European Delivery of the 1M was one of the best trips to date, one that started with a special tour of the BMW Welt, followed by an exciting trip to the Nurburgring and the M Festival where we had the chance to first drive the “baby-M” on track.
In those four years, I’ve been driven tens of new and used BMWs, been around the world on many race tracks, but the 1M continues to make my heart beat and puts a smile on my silly face every time I drive out of the garage. Have long been a fan of keeping my bimmers “clean” and the modding/tuning bug hasn’t hit me until mid 2013 when I installed an Eisenmann Sport Exhaust System and slightly tuned up the N54 engine with the ESS software. Other small upgrades to the car followed: iND side gills, M Performance Trunk Lip and blacked out kidney grilles.
But in 2015 I decided that a new pair of wheels are in order, so with the help of VMR Wheels I added new shoes on my car. The 1M was now ready to be put back on the road, but we needed one more thing: a new set of pedals. And when it comes to those, 3D Design, a Japanese manufacturer and tuner, makes some of the nicest and coolest pedals on the market. They even come with a great pedal foot rest.
Even if the BMW M2 will find a place in my garage, the 1M remains my go-to fun car to drive. Its raw power, amazing chassis and likely the best steering wheel on the market, make for the perfect car. Either on track or on the road. As you can tell I love my 1M and it has been the best car purchase ever, or any purchase for that matter.
