BMW is planning on producing globally at 700 of M4 GTS units. The United States market was left out of previous special editions such as the E92 M3 GTS, but this time BMW is making sure a large portion of them will get to U.S. customers. According to BMW, 300 units will be sold on this side of the pond with the last 150 units being vetted before selling to customers. A team from BMW North America will screen applications from prospective buyers of the M4 GTS and decide whether or not they meet their idea of a true M and or race track driving enthusiasts. They will be looking at things that show motorsports background such as being a licensed club racer, owner of a Porsche 911 GT3, Mercedes-AMG GT or an M car.
The all-new 2016 BMW M4 GTS is an exclusive technological masterpiece, which elevates the performance of the BMW M4 Coupe to an impressive new level and therefore comes with a hefty price tag – $134,200 including $995 Destination & Handling.
Now the rumormill churns out that a special option will be made available in the U.S. – The M Carbon Compound Wheels. The M Carbon Compound wheels (front: 9.5 J x 19, rear: 10.5 J x 20) display innovative material characteristics bringing a significant reduction in unsprung and rotating masses and therefore have a positive effect on the car’s acceleration and deceleration, steering responses and vibration levels. Designed for the race track yet also approved for road use, the wheels are a first on a production vehicle boasting a CFRP/aluminium-composite construction. They enable around seven kilograms to be shaved off the weight of a BMW M4 GTS standard wheels which are made of lightweight forged aluminum.
The wheels are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires adapted specially for the BMW M4 GTS (front: 265/35 ZR19, rear: 285/30 ZR20).

Another option available for the U.S. market is the Clubsport Package which includes race bucket seats and a six-point harness. The standard M4 GTS also features a rollover cage and a fire extinguisher and no rear seats.
The package will only be available at certified BMW Motorsport dealers.
