A BMW 1M challenges a MAN truck to a race at Magny Cours Formula 1 track. But this is not an ordinary truck. Made by MAN, the semi-trailer outputs 1000 horsepower and competes inthe FIA European Truck Racing driven by champion Noel Crozier.
At the opposite end of spectrum – from all perspectives – is the BMW 1M, the super sporty coupe who’s won the hearts of enthusiasts from around the world. The 1M is powered by the N54 twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter I-6 engine. For the 1M, the turbocharger, exhaust system, and ECU have been revised to produce 340 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque, though up to 369 pound-feet are available temporarily in overboost mode. Redline is found at 7000 rpm. The rear-wheel drive layout and manual gearbox (only that gearbox was offered for it) made it accelerate to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.9 seconds.
The 1M is also one of the most fun cars to drive on the track and it has won a place in the history of BMW automobiles.
So how will it fare against the more powerful yet heavier race truck? Let’s have a look at the exciting lap at Magny Cours.
