Our 2017 BMW 5 Series coverage continues today with a set of high-resolution wallpapers. The midsize premium sedan made its world debut yesterday and it’s scheduled to go on sale in February 2017, just a month after its public debut in Detroit.
Visually, the G30 5 Series is an evolution of the last-generation 5 Series while resembling the new 7 Series as well, but this is an all-new car. BMW has taken the tech from the 7 Series and paired it with their newest engines and design language to deliver an all-around premium and sporty sedan.
The new 5 Series has not only been refreshed, but it also went on a diet. BMW says the new 5 Series weighs up to 137 lbs less than its predecessor, thanks to a greater use of aluminum, high-strength steel and magnesium. The 2017 5 Series keeps its dimensions pretty similar to the F10 5 Series – just 1.2 inches longer, 0.3 inches wider and 0.6 inches taller. It looks like a new 7 Series, only a bit smaller and stockier.
“The new BMW 5 Series will make a mature, confidently stylish and dynamic impression at every opportunity. The formal and precise design combines presence, aesthetic appeal and functionality in equal measure,” said Karim Habib, Head of BMW Design.
And to prove that, BMW has now given us a set of high-resolution wallpapers which can be downloaded below.
