BMW lacks a true M7 at the moment and while some are asking for it, others know there are good alternatives out there. Sure, the Munich-based company doesn’t have a proper rival for the S63 or S65 AMG models, developed by the M division. But isn’t the Alpina B7 xDrive just as good? The German tuner/manufacturer has been delivering incredibly fast versions of the BMW 7 Series for quite some time now and yet people ignore their achievements.
Well, the last iteration of their B7 flagship just can’t be ignored. Fitted with a reworked version of the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 found under the hood of the new 750i, the Alpina B7 xDrive model has no less than 600 HP at its disposal together with 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. Those figures, combined with the xDrive all-wheel drive system allow the limousine to accelerate to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds.
That means, the Alpina is drastically faster than its main rival, the Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG. Furthermore, the new M Performance Automobile from BMW slotted in the 7 Series range, also known by its full name BMW M760Li xDrive, is just on par with the B7, despite using a V12 mill under the hood. The MPA model has 610 HP and the same amount of torque, which makes the engine developed by Alpina even more impressive, considering its smaller displacement.
The Buchloe-based company released a couple of new photos of their new flagship, that will work just fine as your next wallpapers. The best thing about this car though, is the fact that it matches all that performance with a similar extravagant level of luxury and that’s a mix nobody can say no to.
