BMW is offering an Australian-only M140i Performance Edition, which is limited to just 15 manual and 45 auto units. Each vehicle comes with a numbered plaque and an M Performance logo.
BMW has added a series of M Performance Parts on the hot hatch to make the limited edition standout, including grey 19-inch M Performance light alloy wheels, carbon fiber exterior mirrors, gloss black grille and black rear fins as well as a roof-mounted spoiler. An M Performance exhaust system with chrome tailpipes is also included.
The cabin also gets some upgrades, starting with Alcantara and carbon fiber trim, paired with an M Performance steering wheel with carbon fiber and rear leather stitching. It also comes with a carbon fibrercentral console and an Alcantara trimmed dash and the cloth sports seats with Alcantara trim.
To enhance its sporty look and feel, the special edition M140i gets aluminum pedal covers while manual variants gain a carbon fiber gear shift knob.
A mechanical limited slip differential has also been added to manual versions.
No power upgrades are offered, so the M140i continues to be powered by the new B58 3-liter straight-six engine that has been turbocharged to make 340 HP and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque.
Priced from $71,900 plus on-road costs – which represents a price hike of $7000 over the regular model – the M140i Performance Edition arrives in the second quarter of this year.
