With an official teaser video, our anticipation for the new 2017 BMW ALPINA B5 grows even more. The manufacturer from Buchloe shows us his interpretation of the G30 BMW 5 Series in a heavily camouflaged shape on a winter test track, but the most important feature is still visible despite camouflage film: The joy of driving and the Alpina-typical driving pleasure that comes with the new B5 Biturbo.
Responsible for this is primarily the V8-Biturbo, known from the current B7, with a displacement of 4.4 liters, which should be even more impressive in the lighter environment of the ALPINA G30 B5. Although there is no official confirmation at this time, we’re only going to reference the power levels found in the B7 – 608 hp and a maximum torque of 800 Newton meters.
Clarity regarding the engine and the resulting driving will be revealed in two weeks at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. As usual in Buchloe, ALPINA will be very cautious in terms of the B5’s performance, but the modified front apron and a rear spoiler lip are nevertheless signs of a high performer with a top speed of more than 300 km/h. Other indications for connoisseurs are, of course, the typical ALPINA wheels and the four tailpipes at the rear.
A few months after the limousine, the new BMW ALPINA B5 Touring will also be unveiled closing the M5-side gap of a large power station wagon from Munich. The G31 B5 Touring will be technically identical to the limousine, but thanks to its larger loading space will target a completely different group of customers.
A little later, we are also expecting the introduction of a new BMW ALPINA D5 biturbo, with at least a 350 horsepower diesel engine aimed especially at those drivers in search of performance and exclusivity.
