The moment a lot of people have been waiting for is finally here, the BMW USA website now having a live 2018 BMW X3 configurator which will allow you to see exactly how much a brand new SUV will run you. Deliveries are expected to begin this November and, of course, if you already wanted to order a new X3 you could’ve done so by going down to your nearest dealership and taking it up with a sales person.
The configurator however is an easier tool to use, from the comfort of your own home. At the moment, you can only configure the xDrive30i model and the M40i version, both of them petrol-powered but only one of them powered by a straight six engine, unlike what you may think. If you’re not up to par with BMW’s naming, you might confuse the xDrive30i model for a car powered by a 3-liter straight six petrol engine but in its stead you might be surprised to find a 4-cylinder 2-liter turbocharged engine making 252 PS.
Depending on the car you choose, standard kit will vary quite a lot. The M40i model comes with plenty of standard kit including heated steering wheel and front seats, trailer hitch, wireless charging and wi-fi hotspot, Harman Kardon sound system, Apple CarPlay compatibility, Adaptive M Suspension, space-saver spare and Active Cruise Control. You also get an engine rated at 360 PS and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque, good for 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds.
Among the optional features you’ll find on the website, once again depending on the model you choose, you can pick out of a decent palette of paints for the exterior as well as more than enough interior leather/Sensatec combinations with trims suited to your taste. Out of the packages available, the Executive Package will most likely be a crowd favorite, bringing plenty of new tech to the car for just $2,550.
