Manhart Performance is one of the most respected and well-known BMW specialists in Germany, tuning cars to limits never-before thought reachable. The guys have their MH models out to show what they can do and when it comes to the BMW M4, their version is known as the Manhart MH4 550. And yes, you guessed it, it comes with 550 HP even though the engine under the hood doesn’t have water injection or a bigger cubic inch capacity.
The guys decided to show us just what goes into making their trademark high-performance models and started publishing videos of the transformation process. The first one is now online and you can check it out below. It shows the car receiving the MHtronik Software Upgrade which takes the power output to 550 HP, an Eventuri Carbon Air Intake, KW Suspension, Carbon Exterior Package, MANHART Carbon Bonnet, Carbon Spoiler and the complete MANHART Exterior Design.
Even though the clip is just over 2 minutes long, it’s quite interesting to watch as it provides a glimpse into what happens behind closed doors. We didn’t get to test a Manhart equipped BMW M4 so far but if it’s anything like the Dinan S2 M4 we had last year, which also happened to have 550 HP, it’s probably a beast to be reckoned with on the road. Of course, all of this does cost a pretty penny, but from what we’ve seen on the Internet you’ll be able to hang with much more expensive supercars.
The Manhart MH4 550 has 820 Nm (605 lb-ft) of torque going to the rear axle which is immense for a 3-liter straight six engine. The exhaust pipes measure 90mm in diameter while their setup makes sure the extra fumes from the engine bay are dealt with properly. Oh, and did we mention the sound? Yeah, it sounds like 550 HP.
