The new BMW 3 Series will come with the recently announced Intelligent Personal Assistant. The tech will also be available on other cars like the new X5 and 8 Series. The video below focuses on the features of the new “assistant” showing us a short glimpse into what the system can do for you.
The Intelligent Personal Assistant can be a activated by saying a keyword or phrase. At first, that’s going to be ‘Hey BMW’ but you should know that you can change it at any time. Once you activate the assistant you can ask it a variety of things in a more usual way than just saying a command. For example, you could say you’re tired and the car will trigger a vitality program that adjusts the lighting mood, music and temperature, among other things, in order to make the driver feel more awake.
The system also learns you habits and behaviors and can make adjustments based on them. For example, the car can automatically turn on your seat warmers when the temperature drops below a certain value. Furthermore, it can act as a personal genius, telling you everything you need to know about your BMW if you need it to. Of course, right now it looks great on paper but real-life usage might be a bit different.
What’s rather obvious here though is that the system will become better the more you use your car. Learning all about your habits and how you prefer to spend your time inside the car, it could prove rather useful but only time will tell if it’s yet another home run or just a gimmick.
