Last week, we spent a few days in Portugal test driving the all-new BMW M850i Coupe and the Z4 Roadster. The drive review is just hours away as the U.S. embargo is set to expire, but in the mean time, we wanted to share with you a quick video we put together with Philipp Eng, BMW Motorsport Factory Driver, and an old acquittance of ours.
Unfortunately, the Estoril track fell under heavy rain that day, so our normal drifting laps had to be resumed to some wet driving and, of course, some drifting. We asked Eng to push the car a bit for us, as you can see in the video below. It’s also great to see how well the xDrive system works to keep the car on the track.
Fitted standard with xDrive AWD and an eight-speed automatic, the 8 Series will go to 62 mph in either 3.7 seconds in M850i trim with the 530-hp V8 and launch control.
A sports exhaust system is also standard with a valve adjusting the amount of sound that reaches your ears. The M850i gets four-piston front brakes with single-piston rears and runs standard on either Bridgestone or Michelin Pilot Sport tires.
In the U.S., the all-new 2019 BMW M850i xDrive Coupe will arrive in showrooms on December 8th. The 2019 M850i xDrive Coupe will start at $111,900 plus $995 Destination and Handling.
