Just like it’s the case with any other brand new model, the BMW X6 just got its Official Launch Film posted on Youtube. This time round, we’re looking at a film shot in busy city centers, at night, seemingly appealing to night creatures. Usually, launch films are all about highlighting certain aspects of the car, as well as maybe the tech infused in it or the demographic it is aiming at. This time, we’re seeing all these focus points thrown in at the same time.
The third-generation BMW X6 is definitely going to turn a lot of heads on the street. That’s especially true at night and that’s probably why most shots in this launch film are shot in the dark. The reason for that hides behind the kidney grilles up front. Notice anything? They’re illuminated, thanks to a new option. Whether it’s a good touch or not, remains to be seen, but it’s worth pointing out that Mercedes-Benz had an illuminated logo on the nose of its cars for quite some time now.
The film also shows the crossover’s new features, like the Live Cockpit Professional and iDrive 7 which come as standard, as well as the lit-up moonroof, or the Bowers and Wilkins sound system which wasn’t available on the older version. Other novelties include all sorts of driving assistants and a new model, the BMW X6 M50i. The old version only had the M50d alternative as an M Performance model.
It’s this M50i model that’s showcased in the video as well, understandably so, since it’s going to be the most powerful version of the car until the X6 M comes out. With 523 HP and 553 lb-ft of torque, the X5 M50i can do 62 mph in 4.3 seconds, almost as fast as the F96 X6 M.
