The next-generation BMW X5 M hasn’t been officially revealed just yet but it’s not hard imagine what it will be like. We’ve already seen the new standard X5 and we’ve also seen what some other M Division SUVs look like, such as the new X3 M. Still, it’s always good to see some spy video of it, even if it’s just a close up of it refueling.
In this new spy video, we see the BMW X5 M getting some fuel outside the Nurburgring, likely after burning its previous tank in anger at the famed track. What’s interesting about that is the fact that we can see it quite closely, even its interior. Admittedly, we only get to see its seats, really, but it’s more than we’ve seen before.
They’re also very good looking seats. With a quilted pattern on the seat inserts and thick side bolsters, they look like proper M seats. They’re not dissimilar to the ones seen in the X3 M but that’s not such a bad thing, as those look great and feel great as well.
Powering the BMW X5 M will be a 4.4 liter twin-turbocharged V8, the same one from the BMW M5 and M8. It will make 600 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque as standard. There might be a Competition model available at launch and it will likely make around 620 hp and the same amount of torque. That’s a monstrous amount of power and should help get the big BMW X5 M to 60 mph in just over three seconds.
We can’t wait to see and drive this new X5 M. The previous car was a hilarious dancing elephant that was far more capable that physics would suggest it should be. But the old X5 M laughed in the face if Newton and this new one should laugh even harder.
