We all know the BMW M2 CS is coming. When it arrives, it will be the most hardcore, most exciting Bavarian product on the road. Based on the current M2 Competition, the BMW M2 CS will be stiffer, sharper, lighter and faster and it’s just been caught proving it on the Nurburgring yet again.
In this new spy video, we can see the M2 CS taking some hot laps on the ‘Ring, strutting its new stuff. On the outside, it gets a new lower front fascia (which is covered in camouflage in this video), an M4 CS-style deckilid spoiler and even a new hood, which seems inspired by the M4 GTS.
It seems louder than the M2 Competition, too. To be honest, I haven’t been around an M2 Comp at full chat in a couple of months, so I can’t say for certain which sounds better or louder but this seems a bit more aggressive than what I remember.
From what we’ve heard from our sources, the upcoming BMW M2 CS will still use the S55 3.0 liter twin-turbocharged I6 from the M2 Comp. Except, for CS-duty, it will get 450 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque (550 Nm). So it will pack a considerably larger punch than the standard car. That engine will be paired with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
It will also get a suite of carbon fiber aerodynamics, carbon fiber interior bits and even a carbon fiber hood, so its cool looks will be functional in reducing weight. Combine all of that with a sportier suspension and Cup tires and you’ve got a recipe for a track monster. We won’t get ahead of ourselves and say that the BMW M2 CS could be a modern-day E46 M3 CSL but it could be the closest thing since.
