Every time a new BMW model is being premiered, discussions ignite on the subject whether it will receive the M treatment. In the case of the new X7, we already know that BMW does not plan to offer a performance model besides the X7 M50i, which currently is the range-topping variant of the G07. No worries, as ALPINA is here to save the situation and bring to life the forthcoming XB7, a competent substitute for what would have been the BMW X7 M.
The latest spy shots picture the new BMW ALPINA XB7 taking a stroll around the Nürburgring test track facility (as we do not own the spy photos, you can see them here). The high-performance luxury SAV spiced up by the Buchloe-based automaker will be based on the X7 model with Design Pure Excellence exterior package.
As we expect, it will receive some of the instantly recognizable, true-to-brand design features such as the iconic ALPINA logos, the multi-spoke wheels, the special ALPINA DEKO-SET shades of blue and green and the optional LAVALINA full leather upholstery for the interior.
Power will be sourced from the B7 model, which means the new XB7 is to be put into motion by the 4.4-liter V8 petrol engine rated at 447 kW/608 hp and pumping out an impressive 800 Nm of peak torque, available on a broad interval between 2,000 and 5,000 rpm.
This massive power package will be capable to ensure the new XB7 reaches a top speed of near 330 km/h. The distance from standstill to 100 km/h will probably take less than 4.0 seconds, backed as well by the xDrive all-wheel-drive system.
The new BMW ALPINA XB7 should be premiered in the near future as a 2020 model.
