We bring you the first real-life video of the 2020 BMW M2 CS, courtesy of BMW Belgium and Luxemburg and autofans.be. We have only seen the new M2 Clubsport model through official photos and videos, but now it’s time to see what the car looks like in real life.
What sets the BMW M2 CS apart from the BMW M2 Competition model is a number of exterior upgrades, which include a carbon fibre roof and a carbon fibre-reinforced plastic bonnet with vents. The hood is about half the weight of the steel version found on the M2 Competition.
Other changes include a carbon fiber splitter on the front bumper, a carbo-fiber boot spoiler and a new diffuser.
On the inside, the M2 CS gets a pair of bucket seats lined with a mix of leather and Alcantara with contrasting red stitching. The steering wheel is also wrapped in Alcantara, as is the center console.
There is also a new adaptive suspension, Michelin Cup tires and standard M Sport brakes with red calipers. A track-focused carbon ceramic rotors are available as an optional extra.
The M engineers have fitted the BMW M2 CS with a slightly modified version of the S55 engine that powers the M2 Competition. That means it’s a 3.0 liter twin-turbocharged inline-six engine with 450 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque.
According to BMW, the M2 CS can get fro 0-60 mph in 4.0 seconds flat with the optional seven-speed DCT and 4.2 seconds with a six-speed manual. Top speed is said to be around 174 mph, although BMW notes that these figures are all “preliminary.”
Unique to the CS is also a dual-branch exhaust system with electronically controlled exhaust valves.
North American pricing and ordering details will be announced closer to the 2020 BMW M2 CS’s launch in Spring 2020. In Germany, the 2020 BMW M2 CS is priced at 95,000 euros. You can check out the pricing for other markets here.
