We’re all waiting with bated breath to see the next-generation BMW 4 Series, for a few reasons. One of which is obvious: it’s the new 4 Series and we wanna see it. The other is more specific, though. After seeing the BMW Concept 4 (seen above) and some spy photos, there’s a good possibility that the next-gen 4er has an enormous, planet-swallowing grille. So we need to see what’s going on with the front end of the next-gen 4 Series. Some new spy photos have emerged and, while we still can’t tell what it’s grille looks like, we do get to most of the rest of it. (We don’t own the spy photos but you can see them here)
These new photos are very close and we get to see a surprising amount of detail of this new 4 Series. Epic grille size aside, the next-gen 4er is shaping up to be a great looking car. Its silhouette is similar to that of the BMW 8 Series Coupe but it might end up being even better looking, due to its smaller size. Similar to the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe, which is a gorgeous car that looks even better than the S-Class Coupe from which its design is inspired by.
Its headlights are also a bit different than those seen on the 3 Series. So it will differentiate itself from its four-door sibling a bit. Rather than having those little notches at the bottom, like the 3 Series, the 4er’s headlights are smooth, sleek and sporty. They also do not merge with the Kidney Grilles, which is nice to see.
In these photos, we also get to see most of its interior, uncovered, which is exciting. What isn’t exciting is how it looks. While it’s a fine looking cabin, it’s no different than the 3 Series sedan’s and, considering the face of the 4 Series is different from the 3 Series, we figured there might be some interior differences as well. Unfortunately, there aren’t.
Obviously, the big news about the 4 Series’ styling when it debuts will be whether or not it has enormous grilles or not. However, I think it’s safe to say that, aside from its face, it will be a very good looking car. So even if it does have hideous grilles, it will be a great looking sports coupe as a whole.
