BMW Motorsport driver Marco Wittmann can look forward to a new company car. The DTM Champion was invited by the BMW Welt in Munich to take ownership of a new BMW. This time, the champ decided to swap his Java Green BMW M4 Coupe for the all-new and more powerful BMW M8 Coupe.
The M8 in question is painted in Alpine White and comes in the Competition guise which brings a series of upgrades over the standard car. For starters, there are a series of M Performance parts in carbon fiber which further enhance the sporty looks of the M8. There is a front splitter and side gills made of carbon fiber, along with the lip on the trunk and the diffuser.
Other elements specific to the BMW M8 Competition are the high-gloss black accents seen throughout the body, along with the black 19 inc wheels.
Carbon also plays an important role in the interior and complements the high-quality full leather / Alcantara equipment in black and beige.
With 617 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque, from its 4.4 liter twin-turbocharged V8, the BMW M8 Competition detonates, firing forward with an almost frightening amount of thrust. It also delivers an impressive 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) performance and to test that, we actually had BMW Pro Driver Martin Tomczyk do a run for us on the Algarve race track.
The result? An impressive 2.88 seconds! But we didn’t stop here. On the next run, we requested Tomczyk to go from 0 to 200 km/h (124 mph) with the Launch Control. The final result? 9.93 seconds! You can see the standard sprint in the video below:
While Marco Wittmann has consistently been one of the fastest BMW drivers in the world in recent years, he is now securing the fastest series BMW ever with the M8 Competition.
