Starting in 2016, BMW will rename some of its existing models. We reported in the past that the 335i Sedan will be sold under the 340i badge in 2016, while the 435i Coupe gets the 440i moniker.
Furthermore, BMW will change some of the entry-level series as well. The M235i becomes M240i and 228i gets the 230i badge. The 328i and 428i also become 330i and 430i, respectively. The current four cylinder gasoline powerplants will be replaced by the new B48 producing 192 hp. This engine is also used in MINI Cooper S F56 and is rated at 6.0 to 6.1 liters per 100 kilometers.
The high-end 3 and 4 Series will drop the current N55 TwinPower turbo in favor of the B58 unit which is rumored to develop 354 horsepower.
The new engines will debut with the 4 Series facelift in 2016, rather than being available with the F30 3 Series LCI in 2015.
