Despite several unfounded rumors in the past, BMW will never make an M2 Convertible. Or at least, not in this generation of cars. Yet, that hasn’t stopped some tuners from drawing up their own plans of an M2 with an open top.

Take for example Swiss tuning shop Dähler Design who partnered up with Technik to make all of our dreams come true. Their M2 Convertible project was just unveiled and looks just as good as one made by BMW would.

Instead of starting up with the M2 Coupe as the base car – and chopping off that roof – the tuning specialists decided to use the 2 Series Convertible as the starting point. The body kit is an exact replica of the one on the M2 Coupe – down to the fangs found in the front bumper. The wide hips are also present, along with the rear diffuser and twin dual exhaust pipes.

But that’s not all. Under the hood, the company has fitted the actual M2 engine which develops even more horsepower in this tuned form. Dähler offers the vehicle in two tunes. Stage 1 pushes the turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six to 402 hp (300 kW) and 428 lb-ft (580 Nm).

The company claims this version can sprint to 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in 4 seconds and a top speed of 180 mph (290 kph). The Stage 2 upgrades bump the output to 419 hp (313 kW) and 450 lb-ft (610 Nm), which also allows a top speed of 186 mph (300 kph). The engine is paired to a 7-Speed M-DCT.

Furthermore, the M2 Convertible by Dähler was lowered with an adjustable coil-over suspension with 16 levels of independent customization for the rebound and compression. Dähler also offers eight-piston brakes calipers with 15.75-inch (400-millimeter) rotors.

An M Performance Steering wheel was fitted inside, along with a new set of sporty pedal.

The end result is quite stunning and it’s likely to cost quite a penny as well.
