The guys from G-Power have been quite silent lately, depriving us from their usual outrageously powerful creations. Their kits for the BMW M3 and M4 models have the potential of taking the power output of the 3-liter straight six units under their hoods up to over 600 HP, numbers worthy of supercar status. Today, however, we’re taking a break from horsepower and torque figures and we’re focusing on other areas of equally great importance.
The German tuner announced today the introduction of a new set of wheels in 20/21″ guises, a combination aiming at the BMW M3 and M4. The inspiration for this asymmetric set came from the BMW M4 GTS that, as you may know, comes with 19″ wheels in the front and 20″ ones in the back. Furthermore, since the size might be viewed as a bit counterproductive by some, claiming the unsprung mass as a factor, the company decided to use an innovative and expensive material for their production.
According to G-Power,”[the] HURRICANE RR forged alloy wheels are made from 6061 grade aluminum, a material favored by the aerospace industry for its unique combination of low weight and high strength.” That may be so and going for CFRP would’ve probably been even better, lowering the weight further still. Then again, you don’t want to pay the price of a brand new Maxima for your car’s aftermarket wheels, now do you?
The end result is more than decent anyway, without using carbon fiber at all. The 9×21″ wheels weigh just 11.4 kg (25.1 lbs) each which makes them the lightest and strongest in the company’s history. While all that technical talk seems enticing, they also look pretty darn good, especially on the M4 Convertible, as seen in the gallery posted below. Enjoy!
