Australia will be getting a share of the rare BMW M4 CS but at a cost. Compared to the M4 GTS or the Competition Package M4, the CS will be fitting right between them both in terms of performance and pricing. However, Aussies know that Bimmers don’t come cheap in the land down under, therefore the starting price of AUD211,610 probably won’t be a huge surprise for them. At today’s exchange rates that adds up to about 167,000 US dollars.
Since the BMW M4 CS is going to be made in only about 3,000 units globally, the allocation for Australia is bound to be higher than that for the GTS or the DTM version for example. 25 units of the former were send over to Australia while only 10 of the latter arrived in the land down under. They were made in lower numbers overall, though. Nonetheless, the BMW M4 CS will most likely sell like hotcakes once it reaches the continent.
Under its hood, the 3-liter straight six engine makes 460 HP and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque which is right between the ZCP and the GTS. It allows the lighter CS to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from standstill just 0.1 seconds shy of the top dog which is barely noticeable, to be honest. You’ll have a tough time launching both of these RWD beauties anyhow and reaching the claimed figures of BMW will be tricky business.
Other distinguishing bits and pieces found on the M4 CS include grey alloy wheels, 19-inch at front and 20-inch rear, with a new light-weight design created specifically for the CS. These are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires measuring 265/35R19 up-front and 285/30R20 at the rear. All-new CS-specific front splitter, bonnet, roof, spoiler lip and rear diffuser are included, all of them made of carbon fiber and light as a feather to keep the scale in check. Deliveries of the M4 CS will kick off later this year in Australia, as an exact date is still to be confirmed.
