The thing about handling incredibly powered machines on the road is that you really have to duke it out with the laws of physics. While the technology car makers infuse in them will help out in this regard, after a certain threshold you’re on your own. That’s seemingly what happened to this unlucky driver of a BMW M760Li xDrive who ended up on the side of the road, in the middle of a field, with a busted rear axle.
The photos were shared by the guys over at Gumbal on Facebook (H/T Hannes Vande Walle) and show little details into what actually happened that led to the car being towed away with its rear wheels pushed way too far into the wheel wells. What we can certainly guess is that the man behind the wheel wanted to test the power of the V12 mill under the hood. Since it doesn’t take long for the M760Li to reach triple digit speeds, he probably carrier way too much speed into that bend and ended up on what looks like an empty field. The tracks the car left in its wake are pretty much self-explanatory.
Luckily nobody was hurt but the car doesn’t look in great shape and that’s truly a tragedy. These things are rare to begin with and seeing one of them being trashed like that definitely put a dent in our day. Nevertheless, the most important aspect to remember here is that even though you have enough power to use your BMW as a tractor that doesn’t mean you should start plowing with it, even if it has xDrive.
On the other hand, the man who did this probably learned his lesson and won’t be speeding again any time soon. And if that’s the case, that means sacrificing this BMW M760Li xDrive was not in vain. Let’s just hope the next time this thing reaches triple digit speeds it will be in a different context, either on an unrestricted Autobahn or maybe even a track.
