This past Saturday, the BMW Club Munich hosted the 2nd annual International BMW car meeting in Aschheim near Munich. BMW enthusiasts across Europe came together on a sunny Saturday afternoon and shared their love and passion for the Bavarian car maker. The meeting was organized by the official BMW Club Munich and its members. A drive-in cinema in Aschheim, located about 15 kilometers in the eastern part of Munich, was well-prepared for the hundreds of BMWs arriving from all over Europe.
The official program of the meeting included numerous car assessments by officials of the club, photo shootings and a movie screening at sunset. The drive-in cinema showed the movie “Mission Impossible – Rogue Nation”. Thanks to the BMW Group, visitors were able to have an exclusive look at a BMW M3, which was used for high speed scenes when the M3 was driven in reverse gear. Interestingly though, a roll cage was installed on the roof of the M3 in reverse position to film the scenes. In addition, also the BMW S 1000 RR was on display with a special cage mounted in front of the motorbike.
Next to the M3 and the S 1000 RR, the BMW Group also brought a wide range of their BMW M and BMW Individual models to the meeting in Aschheim. Some of them, such as the stunning BMW M5 Competition featuring the Individual color Urban Green, were recently presented at the Concorso d’Eleganza at Villa d’Este.
But next to some special BMW M cars, visitors were also able to check out a very unique car. BMW M also showed “D’Resi”, a BMW M3 E30 which was rebuilt to a pick-up truck. The modified M3 was used as an internal transporter at the BMW plant in Munich and collected over 16,777 miles (27,000 km).
But also the participating BMW enthusiasts presented a wide-range of BMW models. Classic models included the BMW 502 “Barockengel” or the BMW 2002 tii while the majority of BMW Classics consisted of the BMW 3 Series (E30). At the upper end of the scale the BMW M2 and the BMW M2 Competition were the most seen M models.
In between I was even able to spot some BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer models, some heavy tuned BMW 5 Series E34 and E39 but also the latest generation of the BMW 3 Series (G20) and the all-new BMW Z4 (G29).
