Ready for the ultimate video? Chris Harris of DRIVE takes the amazing BMW M3 GTS against two equally amazing cars: Porsche GT3 RS and Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series.
The BMW M3 GTS is produced at the BMW M manufacturing facility. In addition to a larger and more powerful V8 engine, exclusive tuning of the 7-speed M Dual Clutch Transmission with Drivelogic and modified suspension technology, the car, which is designed for club sport use, has also been specifically optimized with regard to aerodynamics and lightweight construction. BMW M3 Coupe features a 331 kW/450 bhp engine .
Featuring a transmission and suspension configuration which has been optimized for the racetrack, the BMW M3 GTS accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 4.4 seconds. The car reaches the 1,000 meter mark from a standstill in just 22.5 seconds.
The Porsche GT3 RS 4.0 is a genuine racing car approved for the road. It’s been formulated for demanding competition use with a special suspension, weight-saving components and large carbon-fiber wing spoiler – and even comes complete with special livery.
The 911 GT3 RS uses a 4.0 liter engine borrowed from the track-only GT3 R and RSR. The 4.0 gets a higher-flow air filter, a modified intake manifold with shorter runners, and a less-restrictive exhaust—the last of which reduces back pressure and amps up the noise in equal measure. The result is an increase in output from 450 hp to 500 hp, with torque edging from 317 lb-ft to 339. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
The C63 AMG Black Series is based on the C63 coupe, and makes 510 hp at 6800 rpm and 457 lb-ft at 5200 rpm from a V-8, the same naturally aspirated, 6.2-liter piece that powers the SLS.
Let’s have a look at Chris having some time on and off the track.
