German magazine Sport Auto takes the new 2013 ALPINA B6 BiTurbo to a top speed of 208 mph, that’s about 334 km/h. The high-speed performance test demonstrates the capability of the super tuned 6 Series that could, in a way, compete with the new BMW M6.
ALPINA rates the car at 199 mph or 320 km/h, but test driver Christian Gebhardt manages to go past that. The new M6 is however limited electronically to either 155 mph, or 189 mph (305 km/h) for the models equipped with the M Driver Package.
The new B6 BiTurbo uses a tuned-up version of BMW’s 4.4 liter Twin-Turbo V8 engine found in the 650i model. The Buchloe-based automaker is using Mahle pistons, a high-performance cooling system and revised ZF 8-speed automatic transmission. The B6 BiTurbo produces 540 horsepower from the standard 407 hp and the torque sent to the rear wheels accounts for 516 lb-ft (700 Nm). The M6 outputs 555 horsepower and 502 lb-ft of torque (680 Nm).
The B6 Biturbo runs 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.4 seconds while the M6 in 4.2 seconds.
