German magazine Sport Auto tests the G-Power 1M Hurricane RS. Some say G-POWER has built the BMW 1M the way it should have come from the factory in the first place – with a V8 engine from the current M3.
By adding a supercharger to the V8 unit, G-Power manages to squeeze out an impressive 600 hp and 580 Nm of torque. To cope with all that power, a DCT gearbox is being used. Already from 3.000 rpm the supercharged M3 V8 engine pulls like the M3, but G1 V8 HURRICANE RS really starts to flex its muscles from 5.000 rpm on.
A further key component of the G-POWER supercharger system is the complete aluminum cast air box. It houses, apart from the extensive racing air filter, a water circulated boost cooling system with a large water-to-air intercooler located in the vehicles front, ensuring a boost temperature that is at an output optimal level under all circumstances. Eight lightweight integral resonance induction pipes complete the G-POWER air box that is responsible for the perfect throttle response and optimal torque curve of the supercharged V8 engine. The engine’s modifications made by G-POWER are topped off by a handmade, stainless steel exhaust system that has been especially designed to fit under the 1M’s compact body.
The sprint from stand still to 200 km/h is now completed in 12,7 seconds and the top speed is reached at more than 330 km/h making the G1 V8 HURRICANE RS the fastest BMW 1 series in the world.
But let’s have a look at the video below.
